Black-Owned Businesses You NEED To Check Out

Because they matter too.

Here at Melange, were are dedicated to use this platform to speak up and stand in solidarity with everyone. This of course includes Black voices and lives. This week, we've decided to use our platform to help and amplify the voices of the Black community.

Hence, the significance of supporting Black-owned businesses (who are now and often most vulnerable) goes without saying. I've decided to share a few of my favorites:

HEALTH/BEAUTY

This brand is one that I have tried before and let me tell you their best seller, the "Supa Balm" truly lives up to the hype. It is a lip scrub/ exfoliator that makes your lips extra smooth after application. Say good bye to chapped, dry lips forever with this product. They also have some awesome other products like a lip and eye mask. Definitely recommend trying this brand if your looking for some self care.

Okay, Im officially obsessed with this brand and blog (like I'm subscribing and ordering from them right now). Golde uses ALL NATURAL products like oranges, matcha, cacao etc. to make interactive skincare products good enough to eat! Like, you can actually eat it. They even sell coffee blend for all you caffeine addicts *wink* *wink*. Im personally super into matcha so their pure matcha it what caught my interest.

Finally get rid of those dark spots and acne with this skincare and beauty brand. The founder of Hyper Skin was inspired to create her products after dealing with hormonal breakouts and dramatic dark spots during her first pregnancy. She looked high and low for effective products and found nothing that worked. Ultimately, she decided to create her own solution. I've yet to try any of their products, but based on reviews, it seems that the Hyper Clear Brightening Clearing Vitamin C Serum is a new stand out in the industry.

FASHION

If you have read our other posts, you must know by know that I have an affinity for sustainable brands. Luckily, this brand is as sustainable as you can get! Elia Vintage finds old pieces and gives them a new life and new home. I definitely recommend following them on Instagram @eliavintage to keep up with their sales and new pieces. But seriously, this brand has some REALLY chic clothes. Right now, they're finding vintage items that stay true to the current trouser and oversized blazer trend.

This brand is seriously so modern and chic. I love absolutely every single item in their collection. My favorite piece is the Papermoon Vegan Leather Short. I will warn you this is a pricey brand. However, if your feeling like making an investment in a high quality item while giving back to a black-owned business, this may be right up your alley. They also have great shoes, my personal favorite are the Green Platform Slides. They are such a cool statement piece!

While were all staying at home more often than usual, loungewear has seem to become the new fashion. Luckily this depop shop has got you covered. They have an innovated way of creating loungewear by making it two toned. Best part? It is completely custom made! Just make your color and item request on their depop @goldengirlyshop and you'll get your next quarantine "fit" right at your door step. Their sets are also pretty reasonably priced too!

Although these six were complete stand outs to me, I am barely scratching the surface. I know there are many many more black-owned businesses that are dope and in need of recognition. I recommend checking out Harper's Bazaar's latest post 90+ Black Creators, Influencers, and Tastemakers to Follow Right Now.

Throwing any of these brands a follow will help make your #feedlesswhite. It is time for us to be more MINDFUL about WHO we are following and WHERE our dollars are going, myself included.

I strongly encourage you to save or share this post in order to spread these business to an even wider audience! Also, feel free to comment or contact us and share your local or other black-owned businesses that you love.
