5 Best Places to Shop for Summer 2020 Swimwear

In 2020, we need to buy less from fast fashion brands like Shein and Zaful and start buying more from ethical and sustainable clothing brands. Small businesses also need all of your love and support, too! I understand that brands like Shein provide extremely cheap clothing, but the ethics behind how the clothes are made is beyond morally wrong. This summer, we all need to stop buying our cheap, awful quality swimwear from Shein and start supporting businesses that provide good quality, beautifully made bathing suits. The businesses below have a wide range in sizing, and their swimwear is made to flatter and cater to all body types.

1.Nessy Swimwear

Founded by Vanessa Sanchez, the goal of Nessy Swimwear is to bring confidence to women worldwide. These bikinis are made to accentuate and hug all of your curves. Vanessa takes great pride in designing, manufacturing, and marketing all of her bikinis, and she does it all by herself! I’m in love with the message behind Nessy Swimwear, and I applaud Vanessa for all of the hard work she puts into each and every bikini. I strongly believe that more swimwear lines should follow after Nessy Swimwear.

2. Blue Moon Bikinis

Swimwear lines should also without a doubt follow in the footsteps of Blue Moon Bikinis, a sustainable swimwear brand. All of their bathing suits are handmade of ECONYL which consists of waste from landfills and the ocean, also known as regenerated nylon. Their bikinis are recyclable due to the waste it’s made from. Using old materials to create new products is so much better for the environment, and I encourage other clothing and swimwear lines to participate in sustainability.

3. Remnant Bikinis

Remnant Bikinis is another sustainable swim line that uses regenerated nylon. Layli Toth, founder and creative director of Remnant Bikinis, is dedicated and committed to sustainability and transparency. Toth strongly advocates for cleaning up the ocean, restoring the planet, and demonstrating kindness towards not only ourselves and others but also towards the planet. The bikini fabrics are also super soft, and they have a two-way stretch. The fabrics are also hyper chlorine and sunscreen resistant!

4. Nuku

Elise Brigandi and Morgan Murray, founders of Nuku, both share an immense amount of love for swimwear and the ocean which is exactly how Nuku began. Nuku is another eco-friendly, sustainable swimwear brand that uses regenerated nylon. Their packaging is made from recycled products which means that it is all also biodegradable. Striving to keep their customers and the planet happy, Nuku is definitely a brand I recommend everyone to look into and support.

5. Wolven

Wolven is without a doubt all about sustainability. Their goal is to make sustainability sexy, and it seems to me like they are already achieving it! Wolven has partnered with Climate Neutral which means that they now measure their greenhouse gas emissions footprint, purchase carbon credits to offset that footprint, and implement plans to reduce emissions moving forward. Wolven provides both clothing and swimwear that are cute, stylish, and comfortable. Wolven is one of my favorite brands due to their nonstop efforts in saving the planet and being a sustainable, eco-friendly brand.

All of these brands participate in sustainability, and everyone should definitely start supporting and looking into brands that advocate and care for their customers, workers, and the planet. Although these brands are more on the expensive side compared to places like Zaful and Shein, it‘s way more reasonable to buy good quality clothing from a brand that especially participates in saving the planet. Let us know if you have ever bought or are planning to buy any swimwear from these places!
